Does anyone notice when changing down from 4th to 3rd to 2nd, the move from 3rd to 2nd sometimes doesn't happen when you pull the paddle? I know you have to leave a gap in between each move but still, seems like even waiting 1 second in between it doesn't pick up the 3rd to 2nd pull on the paddle.

Mine does exactly the same, it's at the dealership at the moment whilst they check it out. Sometimes changes a couple of gears at once too.

If you are in C or S and pull the paddle to override the automatic selection the box will often change a couple of gears at the same time. It goes to change itself and then you add in another change and it does both.
In M it should never change more than one gear with one pull. Mine never has in 68,000 miles.

Regarding the OP question, yes it is very slow on the downchange. The box needs to have fully changed down one gear before it will accept a pull to change down a second gear.

On top of that, if the traction control or ABS is being triggered it won't let you change up or change down.

Finally, and very obviously, it won't accept a pull to change down a gear if in doing so it will pull the revs up over the rev limiter. If you change down from 4th to 3rd and that pulls the revs right up near the limiter, if you pull for another downchange straight away it isn't going to accept it because that would pull the revs up over the engines limiter.

The dealer didn't find anything wrong with mine yesterday, must just be the way the box works. They did reset/reinstall the gearbox software though and this seems to have sharpened it up but this could all be my mind.

I've only had the car a few weeks and still getting used it.

You can do a gearbox reset yourself: disconnect the battery for greater than 4hrs will reset the 'learning' calibration back to the factory default.

Cheers guys, sounds like it's just a bit slow, although I am sure I'm waiting a couple of seconds and it wouldn't be past the rev limiter.

If you pull and hold the down paddle it will drop into the lowest gear possible :-)
