Hi All,

I have been going through all sorts of cars recently to try and find the right car for me. This will be my 3rd car in just over 12 so need to get it right as it is costing me too much to change each time!!

I spent some time in a 2009 C63 yesterday and loved it, has the right blend of being mental and still being able to get me to work in comfort, get the kids in when I need and it has all the toys.

I hadn't really considered one seriously until yesterday but I have to say I really liked it so think it will be my next choice I will go and spend some more time in one before I actually buy one but based on yesterdays test drive I am excited!

So I need to find a good one. Don't really know what constitutes a good one as I have never really looked at Mercs before and I don't know if there are any benefits between going for a 2008 one or a 2010/11 one etc. I have been on a couple of threads and there have been discussion around LSD and performance packs etc so could use some thoughts on that and the only other thing I know I needs is the HK sound system cos I like my music!

So any guidance/thoughts would be great!

Budget wise its pretty open from £26-£36k ish. I am more about valuer than cost so getting the right one for the right price is more important to me.

I have seen these that look good but again not sure on why such a massive price difference and if its worth spending extra. (I am liking white at the moment but will look at any other colour than silver!!)

This one looks good because its a good price and from a Merc dealer so warranty etc

This one looks good because it seems to have every extra you can get, older though and less warranty/prep and quite a bit more!

This one is a great price and LOVE the red!!

Again good price and really like the colour, also spec seems OK and from Merc.

So what do you think? Any other suggestions. Help needed and appreciated!!

I would definitely try to go for a facelift model (2011 onwards I think??), which includes a much improved MCT gearbox and a load of other things. You can read more here: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/mercedes-news/10167... You might just be able to get an early facelift model at the top end of your budget?

Re. LSD and PPP, this has been debated to death smile If you can find one with both, it will be quite a machine. PPP is the only option which retains its value on a second hand car, and is well known to be giving around 500bhp so Mercedes are being conservative with their figures.

Good luck with the search and keep us updated beer

How would I recognise a facelift version? The thing that would worry me is pushing the budget too far and it still having st loads of depreciation to go!

Exterior: fog lamps were round on pre-facelift, now DLR style. Interior: facelift: fixed GPS screen.

There are loads of other differences, especially for the interior but these are the obvious give aways.

i would defo have a look at a new facelift C63. Have a look at the merc website for C class amg offers. I never thought i would be driving a brand new C63 out of a showrrom but the deals are pretty good. Have a look at mb club.co.uk and ssearch c63 finance deals as well. The new facelift version is far better.

I would like a facelift car but don't think budget will allow and it has to be a cash purchase.

Shame, I just traded mine for well within your budget - was a 59 plate in black with every extra.

It is at SK motors at the moment - search for it on pistonheads classifieds.

Best of luck with finding a good C63, I too have gone from Cayenne Turbo to C63. I don't take delivery until Sept though.

You thoughts would be of interest compared to the other V8 (Cayenne Turbo).
