Just put down a deposit on this 2011 E63 estate as a replacement to my current 2008 E63 estate.

Really looking forward to getting the car but not a fan of the wheels, is it just me or do they look to spindly for such a big car?

Cant decide where to get them refinished in dark anthracite will make a difference? with or without a polished lip?

The other idea i had was to send of the calipers to get professionally repainted red, any thoughts on this

Dark anthracite would look good, polished lip would probably hide a kerb scuff better.

Don't have red calipers - looks a bit pony on a classy car IMHO.

Hello Egg,

My son and I sat in that car on Friday afternoon - I've been looking at a few.

Lovely colour.

Those wheels can be hard to refurb and when the machining boys set to work to recut the rim they can mill out the AMG logo at the same time - beware. I'd be looking for a painted finish for ease of repair.

The red painted calipers are £479.00 as an option eek

Hi developer

Any reason you didn't go for the car? I haven't actually seen it myself yet, would love to know what you thought of it condition wise etc, and anything that looked like I should be asking the dealer to fix or do before I pick it up. Any views on the car would be appreciated

For what it is worth, I think those wheels look great! And would also leave the brake calipers silver, nice and subtle.

Hello E,

We didn't go to buy (and I told the salesman as such) as I wanted comfort seats and Distronic if possible, but I took my lad who'd not seen an E63 in the flesh.

It's a great colour and at 23K miles it certainly looked clean and smart. The wheels were in very good condition, unlike another I'd looked at the day before where the polished rims had been milled as a refurb and they'd obliterated the AMG from two of them.

I don't think you'll be disappointed - my lad wanted us to buy it.

I am currently wondering whether to run our 2007 E63 into the ground or upgrade it for a 2nd hand version of the new model early in the new year.

May I be really cheeky and ask you to post a bit of a real-world compare and contrast between the 2 once you've lived with the new one for a month or two?

Will be delighted too. I do love my current E63 but after driving a w212 e63 it just made mine feel a bit dated and as I have lost so little on it while I have owned it it seamed to make sense to change it.

Many thanks indeed; the current one is just such amazing piece of kit that its slightly hard to see where the new one would be better.

I must be getting old; at 43 and with over 40 cars under my belt, this is the first time in my life I am seriously entertaining the idea of replacing a car with one exactly the same only newer!

Did you get this in the end?

It's still showing as for sale.

Well just over a month into ownership and i love it. It is very different to my old one which is now up for sale here

In particular the gearbox makes a massive difference, far more responsive and suits the engine much better. The car handles far better then the old one, and sounds miles better. Really glad i made the swap.

Haven't really modified it in anyway yet apart from de badging it to give it a stealthy look and had it properly cleaned

As an option they are £560 - exactly the same calipers painted red yikes - expensive, but distinctive.

i think silver is best, but think the red works well on the black car, i don't think red calipers would work at all on a silver car, personally.
