CLK 230. Would a 320 be worth changing to?

As above really, I have a w208 230k and although it is fast enough for me most of the time, im not happy with the way it sounds or its economy, for a 4 cyl.

What I'd like to know, is will the 320 feel like much of a step up in performance? On paper they seem pretty similar, so I wonder whether it would be worth searching out a good 430.

Currently im getting 17mpg town, 24mpg usual mix of driving and 33mpg motorway. Not brilliant for the amount of power on offer. My old fiat coupe 20v turbo was way faster and also did 25mpg town/40mpg motorway. Any 320/430 owners getting worse than my mpg figures?

I used to own W210 as 320, lovely engine and I was doing much better MPG than you on your 230...the 320 is silky smooth and the power is in the lower RPM band so it is very good (for such a car) on petrol.

17 urban? That sounds shocking! My 500 SEC (5.0 V8 and 28 years old...) manages 20 round town without driving like a saint! Hell. my old XJR (4.0 supercharged S6 with 325 horses) was doing that and I binned it as it was too painful, and it was properly quick too.
