ABC pump noise or not?mercedes sl 500

Had a squeaking tapping sound coming from in front of passenger footwell area for a couple of weeks.It only seems to start when the car warms up after about 15 mins and it not all the time.My local Mercedes dealership seems to think it could be the ABC pump and gave me a crazy quote.Had someone else look at it who said it could be the bracket for the pump and that the rubbers that hold it dry out but if so why does it only start when it warms up?anyone else shed any light on this matter.
Only thing near the passenger footwell is the resonance damper for the ABC (up under the arch cover).
The ABC pump is at the front, behind the headlight. You can see it clearly with the bonnet raised so start the car tomorrow, then hop out and see if it is in fact the pump.
TBH no matter what it is, it's going to be silly money.
