Any Mercedes diesel particulate filter issues?
Discussion
Just picking up on this from Watchdog the other night, has this affected the newer generation of Mercedes diesel engines?

Most certainly on the W212 Blue Efficiency.
68K and it needs a replacement DPF.
There are only a handful of people out there who are capable of cutting them out and CORRECTLY reprogramming the ECU.
In fact MB are now even offering exchange units at £500-600+VAT.
There are a few disgruntled Blue Efficiency "private" owners around.

mine has gone today and im seriously considering a DPF deletion and remap. Anyone else done this or have they just replaced it? Cost for a reputable Merc Specialist is C£800 for Mer parts, the cost for a reputable DPF and remap is c£500 bear in mind from feb the mot will look to see if the DPF has been deleted so however you get to do it needs to factor this in,
thoughts?
You sure it isn't your thermostat?thoughts?
The DPF only regens when the car gets to temp, it knows by checking the temp of the main 'stat, however, the main stat fails every 60k odd miles.
A few people I know have had a failed DPF warning come up, changed their 'stat and then it regens and is good again for another 50k miles.
This is the same for BMW as well, and I am sure others.
So check you car is getting to 92ºc and not sitting at around 80ºc or even lower.
