Hi all, anyone owned a W216 CL? I'm looking into buying a facelift car as a family barge.
Any info would be much appreciated on reliability, running costs, general experiences etc.
Cheers
Andy.

Hi there. Don't have any experience with a CL500 of that age, but have experience of a 2011 S500 (with the modern bi-turbo block) and a 2011 CL63. Both are lovely cars and are well made. I love the CL, think its a very understated car. Both have been faultless since new, although the CL has an annoying rattle coming from somewhere near the sunroof. S500 averages about 23 mpg, but never really does any long journeys. On a long run I would expect 30ish from it as the CL has obtained 28mpg before! If you are tall, rear legroom in the CL isn't vast which is surprising for a big car. Boot is very big as well.

Excellent cars but only worth buying one with a full warranty as they are extremely expensive to run once they start to go wrong. My father had a new one in 2007 which he ran for just over a hundred thousand miles, it started to need things attending to on a regular basis and each trip to the dealer was costing a fortune. Then replaced it with a new, late 2011 car which has been faultless, the only drawback is that it has AMG styling and wheels and if it goes near a pothole it seems to need new tyre and alloy wheel each time. I don't think he will choose the AMG option next time!
