Couldn't get any salespeople to even speak to me earlier this year in my local Mercedes showroom. The one in the next town (owned by the same company) couldn't have been more helpful and I walked out within the hour having done a deal on a new SLK. Post sales experience has been exemplary so far and I can thoroughly recommend Lookers of Eastbourne, not so their branch in Tonbridge.
This isn't a Mercedes phenomenon, in my experience, as I had a similar situation with the local Nissan dealer, also in Tonbridge, who just weren't interested. Have since bought three new Nissan's from an alternative dealer who have since proved exemplary also.
Don't give up its not the car maker its just some of the personnel that haven't grasped the concept of selling.

Like everything, there are good sales people and bad sales people.
I went to look at BMWs once, walked in and got completely ignored by all the staff for ten minutes so I walked out. I realised afterwards that it was probably because I turned up in our little Seat company runabout (as my car was being unbent), a few months later I went with my dad, we arrived in his S Class and they were falling over each other to speak to him.
I bought my car from Mercedes in Ashford and was looked after very well. I do think it's a good idea to phone them first and book a test drive as it probably tells them that you are a bit more serious.
To be fair, they must get a lot of time-wasters going into these places, not that it's an excuse for ignoring people.

I cant stand MB dealers, one I went to recently looking for a C63 had me drive 3 hours to look at a car with the promise that my part ex would be market value and the proceeded to offer me £10k less than everyone else was offering.
Really liked the car he was selling and would have bought it if he hadn't tried to f
k me. Scumbag!!
Also had another one star the process of sorting out a deal then stopped calling or emailing me......
Honestly my experience has been really bad!

Been into 2 dealers and nothing! its almost as bad as Aston in derby! I think Im going to back to Grey Paul in nottingham and get them to source me a car as they are great!!
I've used MB in Poole and also our local dealer in Lincoln. Both have been excellent in sales and servicing....matc said:
Good to hear Poole getting some positive reviews; I took over the place about a month ago! It's not historically had the best reputation.
Tom is now working in Dorchester, I nicked him from Poole about 12 months ago.....I need to steal him back!
Friends have bought from Poole rather than our local CI dealer & could not praise them enough.Tom is now working in Dorchester, I nicked him from Poole about 12 months ago.....I need to steal him back!
Matt, do you have any C63 estate stock? Must be VAT Q for export.
I had a strange experience at MB World that really put me off.
I was trying to buy a G Wagon and negotiating with the sales person who whilst relatively new (12 months) I had bought a couple of Mitsu Barbarians from at her previous place.
Every time I made an offer she would have to walk 5m to her sales managers office literally behind a glass screen where I could clearly see him standing looking at us, talk to him and come back with a counter offer. As we were debating both the cost of the G and the value of my part ex it happened 4 times. I suggested I speak directly with him or he come and join us but was told that's strictly not allowed. What a bloody Charade! I walked away.
