W221 S320 experiences
Discussion
Has anyone here owned or run a W221 (2006-2013) S320 CDI?
I'm considering a comfy cruiser for doing 600 miles/week. I'm using a 2003 Laguna at the moment which is remarkably good for little cost, but it hardly has the cachet of the S-class. Whereas 2007 S320s seem pretty affordable now and I always wanted an S-class one day.
I presume this generation is not too plagued with problems? At just 6 years old I would expect it to be fairly dependable and not to throw huge bills all the time. Even with a few miles on. Is that fair or are we still in the era of flaky and unreliable Mercedes?
I notice these all come with the 3.0 V6 diesel which is good since quite a modern engine. I'm sure performance and economy are decent, but is this engine reliable? Does it have a DPF, dual-mass flywheel, or any of those modern diesel problem items? Injector problems?
Do they have a good turning circle so I can reverse park it without needing 100 metres?
Presumably they wear miles well and can be clocked so will that be something to look out for?
Are any other items of concern? Airmatic problems? And do they really weigh 2000kg?!
Thanks
