I was really looking forward to the new C class as the launch date will work nice when my current C Class's lease runs out.
It was a no brainer as I really like my current car a replacement for the new model was a done deal until I saw this....

Yep as with the A Class and CLA they have installed that ridiculous stick on after thought of a Multimedia display. Why Mercedes, Why??? The rest of the interior looks good but then you ruin it with that screen.

I'm 100% in agreement with you, OP. Those screens look absolutely terrible, cheap and tacky and like something you'd get from the RipSpeed catalogue. I've been having a rant about them on another MB forum.
I had an A class as a loaner last week and it was a nice enough car, but when I got inside it I actually remarked on the crappy screen to the service manager.
It would be a total deal-breaker with the car for me; I couldn't live with it. My 2012 SLK is due for change next May and I'm praying that it doesn't get this as an "upgrade" as I want another.
I was actually talking with a friend who is a BMW salesman the other day and he actually brought it up in conversation - so it's not just me and the OP either.

Why does the new style display inside Mercedes interiors get people so worked up? I don't really see the problem with it myself. In person it feels solid and has a nice modern fluid user interface.
It's the actual screen - it's like they're trying to be trendy and making it look like a tablet. Stuck to the dash. They've succeeded. Dog Star said:

Yes I've realised that but it doesn't look bad to me. The design direction of the interior is positive and it makes them look a bit unique compared to older Mercs and BMWs/ Audis. Jobbo said:
The scoop shots of the exterior make it look like a Rover 75 with some scalloping on the sides
Shame they've tried to make it look a bit like the CLA. Surely they'll just cannibalise sales from each other?
My first thought when I saw the side profile shot was 'Jag S Type' - the droopy back end doesn't do it any favours... at least in those spy shots anyway, will reserve judgment until I see the finished article.

of that screen is nice. Look forward to seeing the actual car when not disguised, really happy with my current C too.
