Hello all,

I am looking for a big MB for use when I am back in the UK, which isn't often so fuel costs etc aren't a huge issue due to lack of mileage. I like the idea of a big engined cruiser which has plenty of 'go-fast' when I want it smile

I have been quite keen on the SL 500 for a while and have read the posts on here with great interest as everyone seems to know loads which is great since I don't to be honest!

However, I saw this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MercedesBenz-600-SEC-AUT...

and was wondering if I could ask peoples opinions of both this car in particular and the model etc. as well.

Thank you very much.

Bit too keen on the asking price.

In any event, I looked no further than the year. For a V12, I would only go for a Series II (1996 onwards - they have reversing sensors, not prongs).

However....you will not find a V8 lacking (and more reliable too) so I would recommend a 1998 CL500 at around $5000-6000 (UK pounds - Aussie keyboard so ignore the $)

Quick enough too - they are planted solidly and very quiet even at 252kph (mine would not accelerate past this, which was GPS indicated - they speedo was off the dial)

OK thanks very much!

I'll have a look at what you suggested, see what's around ATM.

Cheers.

I'd second XB's observations above.

It is a buyer's market: these cars stick around forever in dealers. The blue 600 you link to has been there for ages.

Lack of use, especially standing around going nowhere for a long time, does not do these cars any favours.

So do you think it's worth going for a CL 600 or SL 500 then?

edit: Looking at your tagline I'm guessing I know what the answer will be smile
