Hello,
I am looking to get myself behind the wheel of a C63. I took one for a test drive and have become very fond of them. I have read some chat about the cost of replacement brakes being very high.

This will be a company car and a daily driver so I expect to clock up 15-20k miles per year and I need to know what to expect in terms of running costs. (Petrol and tyres are not a huge concern but very expensive brakes will show up on the "WTF is this" radar)

Would i be correct in assuming that the upgraded brakes on the PP cars have the costly brakes and the brakes on the standard C63 cost far less?

If anyone has a VAT qualifying, Facelift, Black or Grey low mile one they are thinking of selling in the next 2 months then get in touch.

Thanks in advance.

£750 per front disc for PPP cars. However, and im yet to find proof, I think you can put the standard discs on instead with no effect on performance (unless you're tracking it). Standard C63 discs are surprisingly reasonable on the wallet.

Can anyone confirm the above?

can somebody please confirm the above? i was interested in a C63 until the dealer mentioned that the brakes were being replaced before the car would be released for sale at a cost of £2.5k. thats front pads and discs? jesus christ.

Sounds about right but, and don't quote me on this, they should last longer under comparative use. That may have been dealer duff gen though...

The question is: how long do you intend to keep the car and will you be using it in track? PH'er Jackwood had a C63 for >60k miles and was still on the original discs...the amount of engine braking with this engine is substantial.

I thought the PPP discs lasted the same as standard. The rotor part is the same as standard, its only the bell that is of different composition (aluminium to reduce unsprung weight).

2- 3 years and no plan to take this car onto the track.

Quick enough

I had a C63 for 20 months and did 40k, if had PP brakes and when if left me (thoroughly miserable day) the brakes had about 40% left on them
As ever it depends how you drive but the stopping power was incredible
In comparison the worst performance versus brake power car I ever had was an E39 M5 lol
