Just driven a rather long and annoying drive from Bournemouth to Glasgow in the C63. Traffic has been dreadful and weather pretty rank north of the lakes. However, it was a fantastic opportunity to see what the car can do on a proper long run.

Car: C63 saloon. 15'000 miles on the clock, PPP, 2010 pre facelift. LSD, standard fitment tyres, wife and I in the car, suitcase in the boot.

Point to note: car has latest Eurocharged map to 520/530bhp.

^^^^^Once ive uploaded the pics you'll see the proof but this is the result of my drive today.

460 miles.
8 1/2 hrs approx
54mph average
26.4mpg total average but 27.0mpg up to fill at 404 miles. (Opened the taps to make up time in last leg).

Not bad for what is normally seen to be wholly unsuited to distance work.

Those that freak out over poor MPG IMO have nothing to worry about.
I get an average of 265 miles to a tank and I have seen 280 miles. Expect better on the motorway.

My commute to work (mixed driving) I can avg 24mpg.
Over the past 5500 miles my trip says I've averaged 21mpg.

Considering past cars (Z4M/Focus RS) have been 25/26mpg the C63 is pretty good.
Yes, the number goes down with heavy right foot but that's expected.

By far, my Aston V8V was way worse. No matter what I did...17mpg.

So much better than your (and my) E60 M5! Relatively speaking, and especially for that capacity engine, really excellent!

Not sure about miles per tank but on long trips I get about 26.5mpg. I've averaged just under 20mpg over 4000 miles with a decent amount of town and "spirited" (12mpg!) driving.

Out of interest guys how are you calculating your mpg? Letting the on board computer do it?

Also how much is it costing you to fill your tank?

I'm currently considering a C63 and while I'm not THAT interested in mpg it doesn't hurt to know. smile

My results over 7k miles are about the same as this.

About £90 or there about for a full tank of vpower nitro.

Using the on board comp to read mpg.

I don't think that is really too bad all things considered.

I'm currently driving a diesel frown

I cannot wait to get back into a petrol and something fast too smile

Wow, thats really good figures. Drove aberdeen to middlesbrough last week, 25.7mpg. Fuelled up at 295 miles but range was still showing another 35 miles. Best figures in the 14momths / 6.5k miles

That's the best so far: Dorset - Affalterbach - St Moritz - Dorset.

A bit of that was on the limiter as well.....

I've not had the opportunity to get through a full tank on a long run yet (still only done 350 miles in total), but I'm really hoping to be able to manage the 300 mile trip from Canary Wharf to Northumberland on a tank. It sounds like this might not be possible, which'll be a bit annoying.

My RS4 was empty 20-30 miles short of the Tyne Tunnel; my 911 GTS made it all the way with about 50 miles spare, which means that I was able to do the trip in a little over three hours, non-stop, if I wanted.

300 miles is easy on a motorway run. You wont see the reserve fuel light until 310 / 320 miles if you take it easy. Yesterday i drove back south at 90 leptons most of the way and still managed 310 miles to a tank.

That's good to know, thanks.

When my parents manage to do it both ways n a tank, it did tend to irk me to not be able to make it even one.

I dunno - having come from a Porsche Cayenne Turbo I am used to crap mileage, so was expecting the same from my C63 given the offical figures.

However, the C63 mpg is nothing short of remarkable, a nice suprise.

Last year I took the kids to see the Blackpool illuminations, it cost me £65 in fuel from Warrington.

I took them again weekend just gone in the C63, same trip, except this time I was also gridlocked for almost an hour with the V8 ticking away.

Cost me £30, thats from a C63 with 400 miles on the odo.

This leads me to believe that the Cayenne Turbo was not anywhere near the 15mpg urban offical figure.
