My car will be in for its complimentary LSD oil change in the next few weeks - when I picked my car up my dealer said one of the techs mentioned it might be a good idea to get the engine oil changed at the same time - after the car has been run in.

Now coming from a M3 that needed a 1200 miles oil change this doesn't seem like a bad idea to me - I also don't think the sales guy is saying this to just get me to spend the money, he mentioned it once and hasn't said anything yet (but what a good sales guy as its now on my mind).

Anyone had an oil change post running in?

It makes sense from an engineering point of view to have an engine oil change at the same time yes, baring in mind that it'll certainly do no harm. The "running in" thing with new cars is always to be taken with a pinch of salt though, when you consider that the engine will have undoubtedly already racked up miles on a test bench before even getting near the car.

Well, you can't do too many oil changes, but you can do too few.
Personally, if it got to the stage where I was thinking about it, I'd do it.

When I booked the car in for the LSD oil change and said I wanted an engine oil change at the same time, the service lady was talking to me as if I was a crazy man asking for that to be done.

The price is good though, 70GBP labour plus I can supply my own 8.5 litres of oil, although I cancelled the oil change as I hadn't got round to buying my own oil yet due to a busy week at work - LSD is being done tomorrow though.

btw, for LSD oil change I had to send them a copy of the letter from Mercedes UK stating it was complimentary as they absolutely believed you had to pay - I also sent them a pic from the brochure where it also states its a complimentary oil change. Wonder how many have paid for it in the past...
