It's coming to winter time.....and I was wondering if winter tyres on a 2013 ML350 would be worthwhile?

Last year, I was losing a bit of traction in snow and was wondering if anybody had any views? It does seem a bit daft considering winter tyres when you have a 4 x 4, but I think they provide extra traction.

Any advice welcome..........

Winter tyres are worthwhile as not only do they grip better but stop better-fit them on wifes Freelander 2 and notice difference when icy and snowy-just another question do you have normal halogen lights or Bi Xenon on ML as about to buy one and cannot decide if worth ordering with Intelligent light system or if standard ok

Thanks for the feedback. I have the standard lights and I think they are ok. My wife has updated lights on her Audi and I don't see a big difference.

Would recommend updating the command system. If you have any other questions let me know. I strongly recommend the ML.

Thanks for info-just that I am used to bi xenon on my Jaguar and was concerned that ML lights would noy be bright enough-I travel early am on country roads and appreciate good lights but very expensive option if normal lights good-apart from that wanted ML in preference to Range Rover etc
Was hoping better on fuel and comfortable-what trim do you have ? or any other extras-not used to having to order such things as heated seats and folding mirrors on cars

Night & day difference, your ML will no doubt have silly wide road tyres, get the proper spec snowies & on as per the manual & you'll be able to stop go & steer sooooo much better.

In relation to the Intelligent Light System - I have a 2013 ML with them.

The lights are very bright, however, I get oncoming traffic flashing a lot (even on the motorway) as they think I've got full beam on and the height and brightness of the lights just dazzles them. Full beam does a good job of lighting up the trees in the distance, but not much of an improvement over dipped on the road.

I'm going to get the lights lowered if possible when it gets a service in the hope that it will reduce me getting blinded by other roads users angrily flashing me. I'm not sure I'd bother with them again, I've not driven an ML without them, however, I think it would be fine if that box were not ticked.

I have a 2012 350 sport. I am really happy with it. As it was a pre registered job, I didn't have the chance to add extras. It did come with the upgraded command system; which is a must.

My last ML had heated seats and folding mirrors. I am disappointed they didn't come as standard. But the mirrors are relatively small so not a huge inconvenience. My neighbour upgraded the alloys in his ML, but I prefer the standard ones.

There is nothing that I think I would really like to have added. So try and not go too mad with the option extras!

I am getting about 32mpg. Not great, but better than my previous ML. It does pick up speed and is fun if you want to press on - but just watch it round corners!

Yes, folding mirrors were something I missed adding as I expected it to have them as standard too.

The only other thing I'd be interested in looking at would be the air suspension as that was a great improvement on my old E class, but its rather expensive.
