Recently put the W124 back on the road after a bit of a lay up. Four new Continental Premium Contact 5 got me
an MOT pass with just one advisory re OSF headlamp reflector.

A month or so and approx 1,000 miles I'm hearing a lot of creaking going over speed bumps etc at low speed. Getting a similar noise when turning the steering wheel whilst the car is stationary.

I'm thinking ball joints? Anyone know the dealer price vs Lemforder from Euro or GSF?

May do anti roll bar bushes at the same time...

Defo ball joints. They're about £15 each from Merc and the Merc ones last whereas in my experience, aftermarket ones can fail within a thousand miles in wet conditions.

The from ARB bushes are always a worthwhile replacement, too, just a few quid each.

Thank you for the reply. I'll get them ordered from Mercedes this coming week.

Get them done ASAP - mine went from "a bit creaky" to "worrying" within a few miles! The weakpoint in these lovely cars.

Don't end up like this (extreme image alert)

Hi,
thanks, same issue, recent mot, but generally only on hard lock, is it worth jacking up and checking ? (280k miles)
