Tyres at a good price this month: Camskill
Discussion
Just ordered some new tyres for the C63. 4 x 19" Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas for £585 delivered (235/35/19 and 265/30/19 (i know the rears should be 255 but i prefer a wider rear with the extra power)). Was £660 last time i checked. Must have had new stock in and lowered the price because of the winter tyre focus.
For those who've never tried Vredesteins before: Ive had them on my RS6 and my E61 M5 with great results. Best wet grip tyre i've had, excellent in the summer and longer tyre life than the more expensive competition. They even work in the snow thanks to the really deep tread pattern. They have a very handy rim protector and a stiff tyre wall too so you wont kerb your alloys so easily.

Ran them on my old M3 CS and they were at least as good as the Pilot Sports they replaced. There are those out there who dismiss the Vreds as a budget tyre but in my experience they offer premium performance for rather less money!

Interested in these - used them on both previous cars and they performed faultlessly. Now on my first Merc which has the OE Continentals on. The rears need replacing only at this stage; what are peoples thoughts on 2 different tyre designs on each axle? Any issues? For those who've never tried Vredesteins before: Ive had them on my RS6 and my E61 M5 with great results. I had Vredestein tyres recommended to me by a friend/tyre fitter several years ago, I’ve not used anything else since.
Excellent grip in both wet & dry conditions and as previously mentioned, the ultrac sessanta's are pretty good in the snow too!
I always order mine from Camskill and get my friend to fit them as he's not a Vredestein dealer.
Not had any problems with road noise. I run 225/40/18 on the front and 255/35/18 on the rear.

A friend had them on his Caterham and said they were ok for the money but wouldn't have them again due to road noise and not feeling much confidence with them. He wondered whether the sidewalls were too stiff? I've found the same on those fitted to my Noble - louder on the road compared to SO-2s and PZeros and a bit prone to suddenly letting go even with reduced pressures.
However, I've had them on an Audi RS4 and thought they were ok even at Nurburgring so maybe they suit a heavier car (and the quality of the build masks the noise?). I've gone with Goodyears on my SL55 and am very happy with those.
