Looking at getting one of these. Any owners on here?

Presume the engine is woefully underpowered at 109 bhp?

A map is looking like giving 140 odds which may make a reasonable difference.

Any thoughts or views welcome.

Cheers.

Wife has a A180 Cdi AMG Sport,I find it very low on torque at low speeds, speed bumps a real pain ,use first gear way to often ,but once wound up and keep revs up it pull pretty well,Amazing economy as well, she gets 3 times the mileage I get in my ML 350 ! .

What puts me of these is the fact they use a Renault sourced 1.5 diesel, essentially the same unit as found in a Dacia Sandero!

thats not unusuall, most manufacturers share engines and the french have been building diesels longer than anyone else.

Unusual in the fact Mercedes have traditionally only ever used there own engines, this is the first time its been sourced from elsewhere. Uses a cambelt rather than a chain like you'd normally find in a Benz.

I never thought you'd find an AMG name attached to something with a Renault 1.5 DCi!

Had a 180 Sport CDI a while back as curtesy car as my B200 Sport had to go in for wheel refurb.

Great fun to drive but the SMG gearbox can be clunky at low speeds. You sometimes need to preload the 1st gear to get smooht quick gateaway.

Apart from that nice car to be in but IMO wouldnt go for anything less than a 200
