The w124 thread

There seems to be plenty of w124 owners, and a lot of w124 expertise here. Perhaps it's time to start a w124 thread to gather together w124 issues in one place rather than in individual threads or readers cars.

I'd like to know how to fix my very slow central locking - when cold, sometimes my car unlocks the non driver doors 5 minutes down the road! Any ideas?

Please post other w124 problems, experiences and solutions below!

If you still have the old dealer fitted alarm turn it off, disconnect it and bridge the two wires for the central locking.
Look for a post on mbclub.co.uk called I Fixed My Central Locking.

If that improves it then you know it was the alarm.

The reason is that these tapped into the locking circuit at the drivers door, and they are all knackered now.
Is it any faster from the boot or passenger door?

If not then it's more likely to be the vacuum.

That's a great tip thanks Londonbabe - there is an alarm but I don't know if it's connected. I'll take a look tomorrow.

Next on the list is fixing the cruise control - I understand this is a new cruise control actuator.
