R230 Development

Hi

Can somebody please help me with the development of the R230 model SL. I just wrote off my 2002 SL500 (too gutted to discuss it) and I want to buy a replacement. My 02 car had the original CD-Rom based Command system that also appeared in my previous car, a 2001 CL600. I found this system useless, and the price I was quoted for upgrade disks was about £300 !!

I understand that there was a major facelift in 2006, with improved engines and revised body styling. However it also appears that in 2003 there was some sort of minor facelift, and that at this time Mercedes also changed the Satnav spec to a DVD unit. Is this correct? Can anybody please help me out with any other spec changes that occurred around 2003 that I should be aware of? I don't have the budget to stretch to an 05 model, so can somebody please suggest what spec/revisions on top of the newer Satnav thatI should be looking for in an 03 model.

DVD sat nav unit does not have any interior trim (wood or aluminium) on the left and right of the Sat Nav unit.

As above, I think you're wanting the widescreen satnav, introduced in MY2005, so some 2004 cars will have it.
