Hi folks,

I'm getting married in September next year and for our wedding car i'd really like to hire a Mercedes SL Pagoda for the weekend. The only one I can find for hire in the UK is a red one, and really i'm looking for a white or silver car for obvious reasons - Wondered if the PH collective may know of such a car that may be available for informal hire outside of the normal channels? These are high value cars (getting higher by the day) so I realise this is a heck of a long shot, but I thought i'd put it out there nonetheless.

Or if any Pagoda owners fancy blasting around in an M135i for the weekend i'd happily do a temporary swap with some hire money the Mercedes owner's way...

Cheers in advance for any help or advice.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated.

Afraid not though, a good friend of mine had a lovely early 107 SL up until recently that was offered for use - It's a Pagoda i'm after, which is a bit of a pain really..

Hmm.

In my experience you will be overruled by your OH. Oh sure, she will say "Whatever you want dear" but nearer the time she (or the mother-in-law) will insist on a "traditional" Rolls or Mercedes. yes

Trust me. I provide cars for weddings and I have had this conversation many times with the grooms!

Good luck though. thumbup

I see your point GTIR but she's genuinely not bothered, she's the kind of lady who can't see any worthwhile difference between an Enzo and her Fiat 500 - In all honesty we don't even really need a wedding car as it's all happening in one place, but I want one, even if it's just for me and the best man to show up in and for us to nip off to a photo spot after the ceremony in - What I really want is an SL Pagoda... though i'd happily settle for a 356 Speedster or a 60's Alfa Giulietta Spider... However getting hold of any of those cars seems to be quite the challenge.

I understand this. I wanted a Healey 100 for my wedding car, I got one and it matched the colour scheme too with blue / cream!

In terms of hiring..although not a Pagoda I know that McGurks have one of their 356 speedsters for hire. They are a great firm, I bought a car from them once before.
