Looking at leasing a new car, but can't decide which one.
All options at 15,000/yr miles over 24 months

1. CLS350cdi Shooting brake £400/mnth

2. E350350 Bluetec Sport £460/mnth

and finally for only (man maths time) another £140 a month or £35 a week, £5 a day etc

3. E63 AMG £600/mnth

What do you reckon?

E63 AMG. S'obvious, innit?

It depends what you want it for and how much money you've got. Given your low annual mileage, the short range and high fuel consumption of the E63 AMG should not be much of a headache. If you were doing high miles or long journeys, the extra fuel cost and the inconvenience of having to fill up every 300miles rather than every 500miles might be a bore. And the E63 is bound to be epic, whereas the 350 diseasel is just another plastic box, very nice car though it is.

As for E- or CLS-Class, the CLS estate is a bit of a pose, isn't it? A bit of a show. If you want an estate car, get an estate car, not some kind of peacock feather boa.

So, E63 AMG. Personally I'd special order one in dolomite brown with the "business line" pack and a proper grille. In my dreams, anyway.

Interesting that you quoted the E63 cost as a differential against the E350. Sounds like you've subconsciously discounted the CLS.

If you can honestly afford the E63 and its 20mpg thirst, then go for it. If you can't, then take the E350. If you think you may spend every second in whichever E you buy wishing that you'd bought the other, then buy the CLS.

On the face of it, £600/month seems steep.

But it's 'only' £4,800 more over 2 years than the cheapest option for the CLS.

Plus the difference in fuel costs. From my own E55 Estate experience, a large V8 is pretty economical on motorway trips (which I suspect you'll be doing every so often in large-ish bites) and it helps reduce the perceived fuel cost differential. My own E55 is the most economical car I own. It regularly sees 27mpg on motorways. The E63 should be even better, I imagine.

Fuel aside, do you really want to be continually justifying the cost saving versus the never ending yearning for the E63? That conundrum would drive me nuts. I'd sacrifice elsewhere in my life to 'justify' that if I had to.

The alternative is to get one of the diesel models and buy a second, secondhand, AMG for your V8 fix. Which, to support a saving of under £5,000 over 2 years, makes no sense at all.

Are they all excluding VAT?

Not seen E63 anywhere near that without £10k+ deposit
