Hello all. First post as I've finally gotten round to getting a car again!

I've picked up a C63 the other day and all's well with her but I work away a bit (couple of weeks at a time) and just to be sure of no bother I'm going to get an optimate fitted so that the drain from the alarm doesn't discharge the battery is she's not charging for a while. It's always worked fine on the bikes. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience in having one fitted and if there were any issues.

Thanks!

Don't have a merc but works fine on the BMW, in fact if the battery is not in tip top condition you will notice it by thngs like faster cranking etc.

Use 2 x Optimates on my SL55 and work fine. We also use them at our car storage facility on everything from Lamboorghinis to Motor Bikes and never have a problem.

Thanks fellas. I'll had a wee check of the ctek and she's a bit neater for mounting than the optimate 5 so that's bought and then no more concerns!

I've used Optimate chargers for years on things such as CL600, SL350, 996 turbo etc with no problems. I generally attach the small fly lead direct to battery so charger can easily be plugged in when needed. Saves a lot of headaches with flat batteries when vehicles aren't used for a few weeks...Porsche batteries are particularly crap!
