Running 245 40 18 Pirelli Rosso on my SL500 at the moment and the ride is poor, with shake being felt through the steering as if the side walls are to stiff. I'm looking for a more comfortable tyre, any opinionsas to what may suit? Cheers

If you can find them, Michelin PS2s were very comfortable on 17s. But 18" rims with 40 and 35 profile rubber are never going to be great on this car. Check the ARB bushes and the steering links for wear.

Just about to buy myself a set with the same dimensions. Can't speak for ride quality as this is the first time I've changed and the dunlops on the car are 6 years old and cracking. Going for Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric- great prices on opines or tyre leader.

I got the Goodyears for my wife's Golf, from Tyreleader. Amazing price. Delivered quickly, too. Anyway, I am very happy with them.

Car came new in 1999 with Dunlop SP 9000 on 245/45 17s. I currently have Dunlop Sport Maxx RT which are probably overkill.

But the car has the fancy damping which I suspect may affect the ride as much as the tyres.

QuickFit's home fitting department once put on some kind of run-flats meant for a BMW 'by mistake', and while my attention was diverted. Those were a shocking ride.
