C63 Estate at MB Wolverhampton
Discussion
Hi all
I've been looking for quite some time for C63 Estate around the 30k mark with less than 40k miles on the clock. There's one on the official MB used car website at the Wolverhampton dealership which may fit the bill as it's on for just under 30k is a '10 reg and has about 33,000 miles on the clock.
However, having spoken to the dealer there's one thing which sound of concern and so I wanted get some views of people in the know a bit more than me?
The dealer tells me that they have had to order two new rear wheels for the car as both are buckled! He said he didn't know how it happened bit probably pot holes. Now I'm no expert but two buckled rear wheels doesn't sound great. Has anyone heard of this before and could this really be pot holes? One sounds feasible but both sounds a bit dodgy to me. Any ideas???
Also it's had 3 owners already. This seems quite a few for relatively low mileage car so wondering if it's a problematic car, but having read around this forum general view is that they are bulletproof.
Final question is does anyone know of this car and willing to have a quick chat about it before I put my money were my mouth is? The dealer said the car was taken in p/x for CLA45 so I thought it could well be a pistonheads member!
Thanks in advance for any responses.

As has already been mentioned, buckled wheels are not uncommon. My sister has had from new a 60plate Eclass Cab with staggered 18/19" AMG alloys and has had to replace two due to pothole induced buckles.
On a positive, at least the dealer has spotted it and is replacing them.

Cars like this seem to be flipped pretty quickly. Maybe the two guys above can comment but it might be a thrill to own one for a year or so, but then the sensible head takes over, running costs, warranty costs etc set in?
I've intentionally got a 2 year lease on my car as I don't want to face the year 3+ servicing and maintenance costs. It's expensive enough on tyres and fuel haha.
Amazing car though and if you've got deep enough pockets to afford the higher mileage servicing and potential non-warranty covered bits and pieces good luck.
Also, my advice would be to steer clear of PP cars unless you plan to track the car. Although you get 30bhp more and enhanced brakes, the upgraded brakes cost 2.5k to replace pads and discs.
Also, there are very reputable tuners who can unleash 500bhp+ for <1k without issue to the engine. Basically the engine is held back for the C63 and in standard form in the previous E63 had 525bhp as standard.

In answer to a couple of questions above.
I haven't actually got mine advertised but I have bought a transporter kombi which suits my needs perfectly. I've hardly driven mine in the last couple of months.
As regards the new model. I am sure it will be fantastic. Won't be a NA 6.2 though! Good as the new (probably) 4ltr TT will be I can't get F1 out of my head!

Hi
There will always be 'what I have got is the best way to do things....' etc, so my view is also biased, however:
I of one chap that had a nightmare with C63 (his second one).... complained that power was down compared to his first C63 and t went back and forth to Mercedes to no avail....had it chipped and there was a little improvement, but not much so persevered with Mercedes. Eventually they said AMG Germany will have a look, and they arranged a similar loan car. He went to chipping company and had the mapping removed back to stock and off it went to Germany...
4 months later and AMG said they found a problem, but also said the car had been chipped so warranty void.
He now has a 57k bill (AMG's work and the loan car 'hire') and no car .... google it! ....
So, my car IS PPP and is nearly 500 BHP so I do not feel the need to have it chipped.
It also has the LSD (needed IMO) and the brakes. OMG, yes the brakes!
A close friend came for a drive in mine and before the day was out he had bought his own brand new one. The dealer could only get a 'standard' C63 (if a C63 could by any measure be called standard) and there really is a world of difference between out cars. Looks, aesthetics, trim etc.
His look like a C class with big wheels, mine looks like a purpose built sports car.
Of course I would say that.....however I would most strongly recommend that you look at various levels of trim before taking the plunge.
They vary hugely. My used car with 17k mile on it was just about the same price as a new standard C63, and man oh man am I happy that I bought slightly older and used but with every option over a new standard car.
If you are about my area I will happily show you mine. (any excuse for another drive

)Thanks all there's some good advice here.
I had pretty much discounted the PPP and LSD as given I'll not be tracking it I thought it not worth the extra expense but there are a lot of people saying its a must have.
Just can't wait for the company car to get to the end of its lease (not long now!) so that I can take the plunge. Whatever I end up with is going to be a massive step change to the 2l diesel I'm currently running.
I'm quite a high mileage driver so the regular trips to the petrol station will be a pain but worth it.
Bring on the power!!!!!!

If your a high mile driver you will get tired of filling up as the C 63 has a fairly small tank, and also you may be better going for a standard rather than a PPP as as far as i am aware the suspension is harder in the PPP.I had pretty much discounted the PPP and LSD as given I'll not be tracking it I thought it not worth the extra expense but there are a lot of people saying its a must have.

LSD is a must if you drive hard, but again if you bought a standard car you could fit a Quaife or Wavetrac diff at a later date which are far superior to the OEM one.
I bought mine as standard (457BHP) and thought there is no need to modify but i have certainly turned that theory upside down
Quaife LSD
Carbinio Intake system
Weistec Supercharged
KW DDC Suspension (can adjust the stiffness of suspension by button or APP on phone)
IPE Valved exhaust
So before you take the plunge just make sure you know what your are getting into........Its a awesome car and i cant imagine being with out it.
But it can certainly start getting expensive once the modifying bug bites

Not strictly true. The E63 is detuned to 525. The induction, much like with the SLS is superior to the C63 due to the bigger cars having larger engine bays. Tuned the E63 is good for over 560bhp. If the C63 had room for better breathing..........! Gassing Station | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
