Hi

I bought a W202 1996 C CLASS SALOON C180 Elegance 4dr Auto a few days ago and this morning whilst gardening I noticed the hazards flashing a couple of times and then stop.

Having googled this it seems the issue is with the alarm siren? Does anyone know where this part is on the car because I've read conflicting reports on it being behind the front left wheel, or it being under the bonnet?

Also if I need to replace this part, is getting a second hand part from a scrapyard a likely short term fix if this is a common problem as that part might be on its way out too?

Finally, until I get this sorted is it likely to be draining the battery?

Thanks.

I've just been out to the car and taken a few pics if this helps.

Alarm from above, including key point which I do have the key for:

And from below:

And my key fob including seperate alarm key:

There was no sound when the hazards flashed and they do not flash all the time. I saw them do it for a few seconds but I don't know how regular they are doing this.

It means that a door is open, or boot or bonnet. It is probably a door switch. I think the door switches used to fall out. Would be worth going round and checking them.

Nick.

Actually that might be rubbish... Do you have a flip key? I think they were dealer fit alarms so might be different.
