I've just bought back an old car off my brother. It's a black c280 sport 1998 with 50k miles it's almost mint.
It's got a subtle body kit on it from the factory ,anyone know if they come with an Amg kit . It's also a four seater which is the only one I've seen.
My question is does anyone think these could Become collectable. I've seen some 190e for good money.

I really like the 202 c-class cars, they're compact and handsome and drive well.
As time goes by, and more rust away or develop electrical maladies which outweigh the value of the vehicle, those which remain will attract positive attention.
They'll not be collectors cars though, and lack the solidity and mechanical simplicity of the 190.
The individual rear seat option was available as an option and looks great.
If your car has a genuine AMG kit, they're worth a lot of money, looking at ebay prices.( the kit rather than the car!)

If it's a factory fit bodykit, it would be the same as fitted to the C43. There might also be AMG rubber spats fitted to the wheelarches too. Unfortunately there's not much of a market for these cars. I've got an identical sounding C280 estate sitting in the drive, no market for parts or indeed a car with a big petrol engine. It's too good to scrap so it has been siting for over 2 years.
I drove a couple of W202s while looking for a 190. I don't think they'll become classics any time soon as they lack the clean styling and build quality of the earlier cars, plus Merc saloons just don't tend to appreciate - usually just the coupes and convertibles.
However, if you can keep the rust at bay the W202 drives better than the 190 and is a nice relaxing cruiser. The 2.8 is a nice motor too, in straight six or V6 guise, the V6 being torquier at lower revs for relaxed cruising.
If I'd found a good C280 while I was looking at Mercs I don't think I'd have bought an E36 BMW 325i instead...

AMG body kit prices are a bit bonkers. The rubber wheel arch trims fitted to my C36 are about 100 per set, and I've seen mint front bumpers go for 500. Each fog light for mine is 200 from the dealer.
. The early 202's seem to last better than the later ones in terms of body work, but there are precious few around which could be called immaculate these days.
To the OP, look after it though!
