Hi all,
Considering a 2007 E320 CDI 52k certified miles, MB service printout available, but no stamped book or invoices.
5 previous owners - By how much(amount/ or in percentage terms) should I expect it to be reduced compared to a 1 or 2 owner car?
All views welcome.

I personally believe a car's service history is more important than number of owners when it comes to price.
Some people may think otherwise, but surely it's down to how well it has been looked after rather than how many people have sat in the driver seat.

My 124 Coupe had 56k miles in the hands of 5 owners before I purchased it over 9 years ago. It was priced as a low mileage car, rather than a 5 owner car.

So you lack of stamps could prove the problem when pricing. I wouldn't like to guess as to how much it would be affected. Someone more knowledgeable should be able to help there smile

Family runarounds will generally have less owners than similarly aged performance and luxury cars. FACT!

Reason: Families (well, in the case of 90%+ of families) buy cars on grounds of economy and practicality. If it ticks the boxes they tend to keep them until they are no longer economical to run or finances allow an upgrade.

Performance and luxury cars are often bought initially by a type of owner who keeps a car for a year or so before getting an itch for something else new. Second owner is usually the guy who wants a new car but doesnt want to pay the price tag of buying brand new. A year old car will save him decent money on new and will come with the all important warranty. At the cars 3 year point the second owner will most likely sell due to warranty renewal time / itch for another new car. At this point the more long term owner comes along (often a PH type). He'll / she'll keep it for a while longer, sometimes forever but in it's 3 year life the car will be on 3 owners vs the family cars 1 owner (maybe 2 at a push).

That's my understanding of it.

Sometimes the performance or luxury car may have 4 or 5 owners if the car has been a dealer demo or company fleet / lease model. The boss's wife might even make up number 5 on the list. Either way, the flash car will always carry more history than the family runner.

Update - only 4 previous owners -V5 listed named last owner and recorded 4 previous keepers -I didn't realise that included the last named. -confirmed by DVLA Swansea. This last acquired the vehicle on 14 Jan 2014 and as it was originally pre-registered by the dealership 10 Dec 2007, the intervening two keepers each retained the car 3 years.
Eveything looks very different now!http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/smilies.htm#
