Hi All

I'm considering the purchase of a new SL400 and have a few questions:

1. Is the boot powered as standard (even without the KEYLESS GO package which talks about hands free access)?
2. Is the SL400 worth it over a nearly new SL350 with a sizeable discount?
3. When is the facelift and all new model due?

Also, I'm a bit concerned how competitive the SL is stacking up on the PCP plan with comparison to a car with a cheaper list price (Porsche Boxter S) - should I be? GMFV seems pretty optimistic for example...dealers tell me that Porsches depreciate more hence the higher rates...?

Many thanks

1. not powered as standard. it has soft close (last cm or two) as standard.
2. www.drivethedeal.com has excellent prices on SL400
3. current model launched summer 2012, so facelift is at least 18 months away, and whole new model unlikely for a long while (as SL platforms tend to go for circa 10 years).

Thanks for the tip. Why so much heavy discounting on the SL at the moment?

Not selling as they are not good looking cars. Hope the facelift fixes it

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I'm looking for an SL400..This is the deal offered to me by Mercedes:

£749 per month
7300 Deposit
4500 Dealer Cont
33,700 GFMV
36 Months
0% Finance

Merc aren't budging on any of the above figures - what do you guys think?

Is there anything better available? I'm also unsure as to lease or PCP.

It looks like 11421 per year with 3 year commitment. If lease is less then that's way forward. Gmfv not really applicable as anyone who can afford those amounts is always going to buy new in 3 years.

Sounds a good deal but in my experience there's always a bit more. I played one dealer off against another and got where I needed to be in the end. Interestingly I've done a 4 year plan and my GMFV is £29500 so not much less than your 3 year old which is probably equally optimistic!!!

Pick mine up next week smile

AR101 can you tell me more about the deal you got? What is the monthly like? When I spoke to the dealer he said 48 months will only be 4-5 quid cheaper a month.

Very similar to the Merc UK site, so no, no extra discounting. Might be worth seeing if there will be any additional support from Merc UK in the next quarter perhaps as currently it's all from the retailer, see if Matc on here can help with that.....

I'm putting in £15k and paying £550 per month including tyre, wheel, paint, RTI insurance etc. My car has £10k worth of extras on it. I think you can push for more.

Give me £34,000 and you can have my car for three years. Not quite as new but nearly as flash AND you can keep it at the end!

I know I know, I should have worked harder at school, but £34K just to borrow a car for 36 months..! biggrin

It does sound insane but this is the only point in my life that I'll probably be able to do this! I know its a lot of dough...

I agree but it's a very nice car on 0% finance!

Total discount on my quotation is £9.5k. Not sure how it's made up.

Thanks. Another option I've seen is a few used SL350 2014 models with under 10k on the clock from MB used for around 50k. Any idea on what sort of finance deals are offered on these? Or would it be best to just go for the 400...

I went to go down that route but it doesn't work out much cheaper as the depreciation is bigger because in 3 years time the SL350 will be less attractive than the SL400. Also 9.9% APR vs 0% was a big sway!

Very true. I've contacted Matc to see what he thinks. Also got a quote from MB Milton Keynes which seems to good to be true! I don't know the full finance details (waiting for a call) but they can discount a car to 59k on finance (61 in cash). Trying to find out more still.
