2008 SLK55 Steering stiff after a 180 turn….
Discussion
They do but you can feel the weight up front with the huge motor. More like a Mini-GT car than S2000 / Z4M.
Neither have a V8 so you pays your money and makes your choices !
Hard to beat big motor/small car combo. With a few exhaust tweeks aswell they can sound very good, very very good.
Getting a well loved one is getting harder as they are falling into the hands of people who dont look after them properly.

We'll I have done some research and it would seem that if you do a doughnut or 'stall' the steering seem with some revs on on full lock in a 55slk the power steering pump fails and destroys the system! There is loads on the internet about it and the cure is a £3600 all new system!
Does this seam right?

If the pump has gone change the pump BUT if swarf has curculated through the system then yes you "may" possably need the whole lot changing, at the very least the rack and pump and the hoses flushing through but i doubt a dealer will flush, they will insist on new parts to not void any warrantt.Does this seam right?
