Hi, just looking for some advice about this, the 3 buttons on the left of the drivers seat. I can feel virtually no change when i press them.

I briefly felt something earlier, but then it stopped. Seems to me it may be faulty, just wondering how "direct" or noticable it is?

Don't want to take it in and get charged for a diagnostic and them say nothing is wrong. In particular i was led to believe you could adjust the seat wings wider? certainly the seat is very tight for me at the moment, and I'm not an enormous chap!

I think you are referring to the bolster and seat back adjustment buttons. I had a problem with these after the car had gone through the fabled Merc pre-delivery inspection! There was no movement that I could feel. Though I confess that I did start to 'imagine' movement...Have you tried sitting in the passenger side and trying the buttons on that seat? Any movement? If so, it may be a connection under the seat on the drivers side. Though, in my case, once I established neither side worked, I sent the car back (under warranty) and they told me the relay was kaput and replaced FOC. Anyway...now it's fixed I never use it!!

Btw mines' a 2008 car.

thats the ones. I have also tried the passenger side - nothing.
but on a car like this one expects it all to work!

there is a fuse box in the boot for these functions.

The dealer had to replace the fuse on mine to get the seat adjustments working. You might want to have a look in the handbook then have a rummage.

This is a common fault on these. Almost certain to be the relay. Will be very noticeable when it works I can assure you!

bah!

Well it was the fuse, but they did a check, nothing in the system memory checked for loose connections etc, so next time they'll do a more thorough diagnosis. Got a free car wash and hoover too smile MUCH better, obviously now it suits me i'll never touch the switches again!

I had this exact same issue on a 2010 sedan. The fuse will blow next time you change the position of the seat/backrest. The wiring for the lumbar support/side bolster etc runs across the hinge section of the seat and depending on the position of the seat will over time wear through the insulation and short out. I had it fixed under warranty - was a "seat out"/2 day job to fix. So if you still under warranty get it sorted now, otherwise don't touch the position of the seat/backrest and you should be fine.
