May I tax the PH expertise and ask what the difference might be between a 62 plate PPP car and the run out 507 series cars?
I anticipate I would enjoy the mechanical upgrades to the 507 spec in terms of pistons/rods/crank etc and would be willing to pay for them, but a PPP car is a lot less expensive and there are some nice examples available.
Mercedes seem to have published little real information past the initial marketing bluff about both the PPP and 507 models.
Are there any specialist workshops working on these cars in the UK that can be relied on the know the facts?
Any informed comment would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for that EC.
I do know that the 507's did not have a standard LSD as a car i viewed was without. I see from the options list that it was an £1800 option.
Do we know if the internals are the same between PPP and 507? and is the power difference simply a result of throttle body restrictions?

Engines are identical. Simply an adjustment of the restricted parameters. I do know that the 507's did not have a standard LSD as a car i viewed was without. I see from the options list that it was an £1800 option.

I think the exterior design of the 507 is nicer - the bs bonnet is really great and as the rarer car it "might" hold values better (hence the ppp are cheaper)
If you do not need the willy waving points I think in driving the car you will find little difference (PPP toerance tends to be upwards rather than downwards and I have heard of several PPP that have been dynoed close to 500 hp) - as other said the engine is in essence the same and highy tuneable (the SLS BS has over 600 HP), so if you want to improve it might be better to buy lower and spend the money on upgrades
Interior is the same as facelift car
I have a standard pre facelift PPP car and do not long more power (better road holding at times - wider tyres might help and so the wider track but for this you need a bs not a ed 507
If I was you and would neither need the badge nor the design I would buy a PPP
If money was no object I would buy the car I like optically best/best condition lowest mileage, regardless what badge
