New C Class warning
Discussion
On Thursday I was returning from a short visit to France, I used Eurotunnel, making my way to the boarding gates, as I approached the height restriction gauge board, set at 1.85m I think, the automatic braking system brought me to a sudden and unexpected halt, this proved that the system works but I was very
surprised that the system was activated by a single horizontal board set at 1.85m.

Can it be turned off?
I don't know if it can be turned off but I don't wish to it is a very good safety device,I was merely passing on information, so that others would not be surprised as I was.jonny996 said:

In wet weather they sometimes gather on the road under some trees in a little dip. Normal MO is to slow down and gently 'persuade' them out of the way with the front of the car.
Not with the C class! Beep, beep beep hard stop at 10mph.....
Its happened with car park barriers where I know its moving up so start to move forwards, but car thinks otherwise.
Clever stuff though.

The way the LIDAR system works, in theory if you drive up to that same barrier either riding the brake, or steering slightly (as if driving around a small obstacle) then the system thinks "You've got this in hand, no need for me to intervene" and should do nothing.
Yes you are correct, after a little experimenting that is exactly how it works, very clever well done Mercedes.Gassing Station | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
