Hi everyone

About to buy a 2nd hand E class and would be interested to know if I'm getting a good deal based on the upholstery. In terms of spec, I have 2 very similar models to look at. Almost identical mileage, same year, same engine, same transmission etc. Differences in modifications, e.g. one has DVD/Sat Nav/multi CD changer, the other has Parktronic sensors, so there are swings and roundabouts. The main difference is the upholstery. One is leather, and the other is Artico/Liverpool fabric. Is it realistic for that to represent a £1500 difference in used sale price?

Would be really interested to know whether the leather used on an E Class Merc could command an even greater value - as this would help me determine whether I'm getting a good deal on the one WITH the leather, or whether I should be paying a lot less for the one without it.

Thanks!!

Hi

You dont say how old the vehicles are - model numbers would be useful.
If it was me and the models were fairly recent then I would go with the one which has Command and Artico. It is fairly unusual to see full genuine leather on recent cars like the W212 E class. I dont think when it comes to resale it is as important as Command.

Thanks for you reply. We're talking about a 2007 model. E220 CDI Avant Garde. Leather one is coming up £1500 more than Fabric. Gut feeling is the difference in price is justified by the leather and DVD/Sat Nav etc., compared to fabric and Parktronic option on lower price vehicle - and seller of lower price vehicle didn't struggle to drop original price from £9k to £8k, leaving £1.5 difference. I'm thinking I've made the right decision to go for the more expensive one but would appreciate other comments. Thanks!

Parking sensors don't cost much to fit aftermarket if you want them, maybe able to put a rear camera thru the nav unit cheaply too
