R230 Fuel pump whine (I think)

Got a '54 plate R230 SL500. It makes a light whine over about 40mph almost sounds like a supercharger. I can modulate it so it goes (without load).

It seems to go when the tank is full, and worst when nearly empty so I am 99% it is fuel/fuel pump related.

Now reading up, some people ae saying a new one still does it.

So, anyone had this, and how much to replace the fuel pump (parts and labour)?
