Looking at one of these as next family bus. Looking at the ads, some seem to specifically mention 265 BHP and seem to indicate that this was an in model upgrade around 2011. Does anyone know if there was a change from 2010 models to 2011 onward, I do know that there was a bigger facelift in 2013. cheers.

Yes, there was a change.

The 265bhp version received quite a few mods to the engine internals and, certainly as far as the coupe is concerned, coincided with the introduction of stop-start and the 7g+gearbox and the straight, rather than hockey stick, day running lights. For the coupe, it came in for the 2012 model year.

I can't recall all the details, but from memory it was pistons, compression ratio, injectors, some changes to DPF / programming etc. There's probably more if you search.

The earlier versions were about 230bhp, and less torque than the 265. There was an earlier 272bhp version of the engine in some of the limited edition CLSs (Grand Edition?), but i think they were just remapped versions, without the other internal mods.

I think the saloon might have had the mods a bit earlier, but would assume it came with the same raft of changes. The 2013 (I think it was then) facelift was cosmetic, changes to bumpers/headlights and fascia ie clock in centre, column change lever..

Didn't they reduce the bhp to 248 but no change in torque in 2013, resulting in another drop in CO2. The corresponding 0-60 went up by a few 10ths and fuel consumption improved a bit as well.

Yes, you're right, the quoted figures did change slightly as from the facelift. I'd forgotten about that, suspect it was to do with them being equipped with the 'AdBlue' or whatever it's called, no doubt to meet Euro 6.
