Looking to buy a Mercedes Benz SLK200
Discussion
Hello everyone,
I'm really interested in buying a used Mercedes Benz SLK (2012). Can anyone here recommend me any insurance company where I'll be able to find cheap insurance (Im gonna turn 18 next month), I dont mind paying around £3000-4000£. Ive been given a quote from RCIB Insurance for £3999 but I'm hesitant to get insurance from them as they have really bad reviews.
I would like to here your opinion about this car. I currently drive a Honda CIVIC Type-S (2011).
thanks!

We also have an SLK. I'm with Admiral, granted not quite as young as you, but my OH is 23 and we had trouble finding an insurer who would cover him on our car. A lot of insurers (LV, Direct Line, AA...) only insure over-25s on certain vehicles!
I've been with them a few years and they've always been reasonably priced.

My mrs has a 2014 350SLK. Costs about £325 to insure with Aviva through Marsh. Actually less than the 08 Z4 2.0 she had before. She has got a full NCD and is a bit older than you............well a lot actually.
As for the car it's OK. Not had any issues with it, it's a reasonable compromise in terms of ride and handling and it goes fairly well. For me it doesn't have the go you might expect from 306bhp but it's perhaps a bit deceptive. Quite a heavy car. Averages 32mpg.
We tested a 200 and a 250. For us, they needed winding up a bit to get good performance but perhaps that's to be expected. On the other hand the fuel consumption's a bit better and they do go quite well when pushed.
