W124 Central Locking troubles
Discussion
Hi all, I am wondering if anyone can offer me some advice. I have replaced the pump in my central locking unit as it was burnt out, I have orthopedic seats so I couldn't get the correct unit at a sensible price(part no 124 800 10 48) . I have also re-soldered the board and now have a working pump. The issue is that the pump on first trial ran and pressured up, then when I went to unlock the doors the pump began to run backwards and forwards repeatedly without stopping. Is this likely to be an issue with the black valves at the pump outlet (the ones with the little metal strip connectors), or a faulty door switch. I haven't checked for vacuum leaks as I would imagine that the pump would run one way only if I had a leak. Also the pump didn't seem to time out so I have removed the connectors as I guess this is why the old pump burned out. Unfortunately the car is newly acquired and was a dealer trade in so I am unaware of how the system was operating/failing prior to my purchase.
Any help from the usual W124 suspects (you know who you are ;-) ) would be much appreciated. Someone must have come across this issue before........and yes I did check google and found nothing useful :-(
Thanks in advance 220te

Thread bump. The pump wasn't running in reverse but the little black valves are broken which I can't seem to fix. I am now on the lookout for a central locking unit 124 800 10 48 from a W124 or a W126 300 SEL. If anyone has one or has any ideas on a replacement or fix let me know. I want my central locking and seat to work :-(

They're good SPOB.
You could also try Chris at Mercman (best to phone) or Dronsfields (ditto). Both are reliable suppliers of used parts and have vast ranges.
