Starting to think about shifting the Jag XJR and getting back into something newish. Was looking at E220 for economy but wasn't all that impressed with the looks or engine. But this new C220 manual with 300lbft at 80mpg supposedly potential has really turned my head. Aluminium so lighter and quicker and manual plus really beautiful inside. Driving one in a week or so when I'm back off holiday.

Looks like 24k for a 12 month old demo, 8k miles more or less with great options.

BUT thought I'd ask the experts here for some advice on options etc if you don't mind.

Oh, Hi, I'm from the Porsche forum usually and thanks in advance for any info...

I haven't driven the latest C220 CDI but I have a 2011 facelift model manual and I am currently averaging 55mpg on a 22 mile each way, cross country b-road commute. I know it would be higher if I had open roads, dual carriageways, motorways to drive but my route is mostly twisty so no chance to cruise anywhere. It's a nice drive too with plenty of power when I do need (or want) it. The engine can be a little coarse at times (cold idle for example) but is pretty much silent once under way.

Thanks for that. Actually with discounts from drive the deal etc it looks like new is the way to go.

Seems that 28k will get a white, leather, overhead camera view, air suspension model. Any advice on further options I really ought to have (extended range tank I guess)

c220 sport manual I'm thinking

I can't help on options as mine is an older model and I bought it 2nd hand.
Do you really need an extended fuel tank though? Depends how many miles you do. I get 650 miles from mine between fill-ups...

What's called the "Fuel tank with increased capacity 66l" is standard. Is that the option you mean? I think it's in the spec list as a small tanked version was used to get better weight/fuel efficiency stats.

You're quite right actually yet -- apparently the 66l is standard from the conversation I had with the dealer earlier, thanks...

After a small amount of hand wringing and test driving, I've ordered the C350e instead. 220 drove really nicely so hopefully the e will retain that and add a bit of speed besides. Sure cheap as a 5% BIK company car!!
