The age old question, but I thought I ask it now that A45, CLA45 (does anyone own one?) and C63S have been out a while and owners will have an idea on how the mpg of the new 'efficient' engines compares with the outgoing 6.2.

Can anyone shed any light? I'm still waiting for the 507 to come on the books (expected September) before I can get in it so I'm still researching where I can. Drove a C63S the other day and it's a pretty cool car but I can't justify the 70k+ price (with options) over 58k for the 507.

Currently running 22.5 mpg for last 5000 miles with my A45 hatchback
I do like the loud pedal and very rarely use comfort mode
On the motorway the best I have seen is 34-35

Interesting, when I borrowed a 45 for a few days I did see 41mpg on a 240 mile motorway run but it was pretty soul destroying...

My dealer borrowed one and used it 'as it should be used' for a day and averaged 22mpg also. I'll assume the CLA and S will be just as bad/good!

Im averaging 24mpg even with all the mods on my A45. Done just short of 10k miles. These cars are hugely affected by weight and mine does not have the 80kg+ panoramic roof which helps both mpg and performance.

24.3 over the last 4k miles, I have seen 36.6 on a "brisk" motorway journey.

Interesting...so in all honesty, pretty much mpg of the 6.2. What about the c63s?

My 6,2 C63 PPP averaged 19mpg over the 2 years so 24mpg from the 450bhp A45 is still better.

C63 6.2 = 19mpg averaged over 30 owners/cars
A45/CLA45 = 24.2mpg averaged over 7 owners/cars

Can't remember which merc forum I read this on. Everyone contributed tank to tank measurements and then someone calculated the lot.

I think I'm going to have to get out of hooligan mode in my SL63 because according to the on-board computer I'm only averaging 13 although I did once get 20 mpg with the top up and a steady 70 mph for about 30 miles.

Very useful so that's around a grand more in fuel each year based on 15000 miles for the 6.2
