Before you laugh or question my sexuality...there is method to my madness. I will most likely have a 507 soon and it will cost me around £4500 a year in fuel. I work 10 miles from home (the wife works 3 miles away) and a lot of my journeys are short. So I'm thinking of something fun, different and cheap for around 5000 miles a year...which by my man maths means a saving of £650 if you don't include the cost of buying the Twizy (which shouldn't depreciate much). The wife won't let me have a bike and I don't want another full scale car if that makes sense.

Has anyone else done something similar? Am I just going crazy because I sold my last fun car and haven't replaced it yet? A 507hp 6.2ltr v8 and a 17hp 0ltr v0 are poles apart! smile

I had a Smart diesel for two years it ran faultlessly with no road tax or congestion charge to worry about & a cost of £200 to add to my policy it was a great little car.

The best part was when I sold it I'd only lost £600 off the initial purchase price.

You'll like the C63 to I enjoyed playing with the OH's one (she still misses it) Full System with a remap K&N's & Penske Coilovers.

How much is a twizy, also you need to have a word with the wife you need to have two wheels in your life. wink

My OH surprised me by getting me an MV, I will add it resulted in me selling two bikes & her getting a new Alpina F30 D3 lol

Twizy is just shy of 4k with doors smile

49 a month battery rental and sod all else...3.5hrs to charge 60 miles and costs a few quid.

A bit of both I think everyone needs a V8 in their life & the C63 is one of the sweetest I've owned but also understand the need to make the man maths pass the scrutiny of the OH if she says no to the Twizy then tell her you were looking at one of these:

It should get the Renault in the garage

I bought a 58 plate polo bluemotion 1 in November to avoid using the slk55 on salted roads. I have to say it's been fantastic.. i bought it at 119k and it's now just short of 123k ..had a few scuffs but was a pretty honest car. I gave 2600 for it but spent 1200 on a mega service ( clutch, belts, water pump and new front discs and pads) so should (fingers crossed) cost me next to nothing to run.

Being a 1.3 diesel with a small turbo it's surprisingly nippy with a decent amount of torque and will top out at 110 ish (way better than the gutless 1.0 petrol I had as a courtesy car which required changing down a gear at 75 if you hit a slight incline). Fuel economy..West London to Kidderminster last week (130 miles) cost me a princely £10.40. It makes the sub 20 I get in the other car more palatable..plus as it's not immaculate I'm not precious where I leave it.

Not got the 507 yet no frown I'm going to have to snatch the keys from the dealers cold dead hands it seems...looking like October now!

I bought a Twizy yesterday, gets delivered tomorrow smile

I had a Polo Bluemotion from new a few years back. As an only car it was soul destroying and it had major faults under warranty (due to me ragging it everywhere) but handled well, tyre squeel was amusing and averaged 71mpg into London and back each day....never have one again though!

Small cheap cars as second or third vehicles are great. We have a citroen C1 which is an excellent little run about and costs pennies to run.
As an only vehicle...forget it!

The Twizy intrigues me but not sure we could make it work. Requires too much planning and would cost a lot more than our C1.

I'll report back when the little bug arrives (Friday). Just trying to sort insurance...£210 for a quadracycle that's incapable of going fast enough to crash! Oh dear.

For anyone who's a petrolhead, I can imagine!

But I am intrigued on the Twizzy as seriously thinking of getting the missus something sensible for her 5 miles daily commute....considering I've just got her....err me....a AMG GLE63 S coupe as our sensible car. But I'm thinking it'd be better if I used that for my commute smile

Take a look at the Smart ForTwo Electric that should be good little car:

Look past the colour I'd haggle to get them to share the cost of calming down the accents but here's one.

Anyway...here it is, arrived this morning and already covered 20 miles to the office and a few passenger rides smile

F1 yellow with elia chip (so more torque and higher top speed). Managed 58 mph before traffic which is 'fun'.
