Now here's a stupid idea. Mercs mostly come in black, silver and grey. The light blue is too light and dark blue is too dark. What would be the likely cost to respray an E350 convertible?

How far do you want to go? All the Door Shuts Engine Bay etc as a rule to do a proper job you'll probably be looking at £2500-3500 it's lot of work if you want it done properly.

It's probably a better idea to special order one in the colour of your choice.

For a proper quality repaint including all the labour for removing and replacing trim I'd say £6-7k would be a good price. That wouldn't include all the under bonnet strip down required.

If you don't do it properly you'll massively devalue the car.

Thanks for the replies. It would be s/h so a special order isn't possible.

At a likely purchase price of about £20K I don't think it's worth a premium of even £3K, so it looks like I'll just have to wait until one comes up.

Where's Edd China when you need him eh?!

What happened to that thread about the Scottish respray for £500 or something?

Is that an option or a bit 'naff'?
