I've recently bought an E350 Coupe 2015 model. Mileage is 5k.

While fuel economy wasn't my main reason for purchase it was a consideration. So far I'm struggling to get an average of 40 mpg in mixed driving against an official figure of 53+ mpg.

While I don't expect to get the official figure this is the biggest difference I've experienced on a modern car under the same road conditions and driving style.

The closest to official being an Audi A5 3.0 diesel.

What is anyone else achieving ?

E350 saloon does between 41 and 47 according to trip, I haven't tested it at the pump. Can still only achieve that on a 280 mile motorway run at sensible speeds.

Petrol or diesel?

My 350 cdi coupe (265) does approx 50mpg, according to OBC on trips to S France, cruising at or around the limit on autoroutes. I haven't bothered to check by brim-to-brim, but it's not much different. That tends to be majority of my mileage in that car, so overall figure isn't much different.

I am sure I could get it lower if I chose to wink

Mileage 5k? It is not remotely run in yet. That could be 10-12k if petrol and closer to 20k if diesel....

Forget getting near the official figures.

The best owner on sprintmonitor.de has recorded an average of 35mpg over 59 tanks.

Worst user is 21mpg over 34 tanks.

since it was made it is achieving 33 overall. The long journeys at 70 tend to be about 42.
