MB A180D Amg Line
Discussion
I have a 200cdi sport as my comaony car.
I read reviews that the ride would be bad but the sport is on standard suspension and 17" wheels and its not an issue at all. I think the comments regarding the poor ride quality apply more to the AMG line.
My 200 has the 2.2 136 engine. Its adequate but no more.It hasn't got the punch that my old 320d had. One of my colleagues has the 180 and says it feels underpowered.
I didn't have a choice and would probably have chosen a 1 series in preference but I'm quite happy with mine.
I'd see if she could go to the 200 rather than the 180.

A180D Manual uses the 1.5 Renault diesel, near enough the same unit as found in a Clio or Dacia!
Rightly or wrongly this put my friend from buying one right off last year!I have to say the engines in BMW have always been superior. Everytime I try to go to mercedes, just feels like such a big difference to me. Mercedes are always playing catch up

There are Mercedes and BMW out there with real engines, there are also others with useless engines. Neither company is playing catch up, they are certainly on par.
