Well as the title suggests the Palladium Silver paint on the rear bumper has a 3-5 mm bubble that has appeared over night. It has not had any impact and was not visible yesterday. Its been parked on my drive overnight.
It looks as though water has got behind the surface somehow? The area around the bubble looks to be swelling and has reacted and started to raise. I bought ot from the MD 5 months ago as a 1 owner approved used.
Anybody had or heard of similar?

Yes, me.

I found an area of bubbling on my 2013 E-Class front bumper, in and around the recessed area where foglights used to be located, I'll post up a pic. A week later and the bubble has flaked off!

So, took it into Mercedes who directed me to their approved bodyshop, one week later have had a call to say Mercedes have approved a new bumper at full cost to them, with courtesy car provided. No arguments, and I double checked they weren't respraying the existing bumper (which I'd have expected they'd do but perhaps preparation costs outweigh the cost of a new bumper?) and was told no, it was being replaced.

They didn't offer any explanation of why the paint would flake off and didn't argue about doing the work - does that suggest a known problem, or does having a few Mercs in recent years all serviced at the same dealer and buying an ex management approved car go some way to explaining the swift positive outcome - as I hear Merc are pretty good in such circumstances? Who knows.

Thanks for the reply and taking the time to post pic. I will let you know the outcome. I've not yet contacted them as I've been away.
I will update the post with what happens next.
