Folks,

I am picking up our first Mercedes next week. I bought it over the phone so have not physically inspected it. I have been informed the car is immaculate.

I have a couple of quick questions.

1. I was wondering if there is anything (apart from the usual service log book and condition checks) I should check when inspecting the car?
2. The car has 'COMMAND Online system with Media Interface'. Does this mean it has a sat-nav disc(s)? If so how many?
3. Do Mercedes give any documents/folders etc with their cars?
4. The car has 2 keys.. what else would come with the car?

Thank you!

2012 will be hard drive nav, get them to update it, it could be the old software too, looks yellow rather than grey.

Will be electrnic service history, no book, be really careful here, when I collected mine from Worcester it was missing a service completely, I was going to walk, but we negotiated and agreed on a full service including gearbox and got them down from £28500 to £23500 as no longer an approved used car.
Turns out the tts had it set to KM not miles, so not only was it not due the 24k mile service but the car had only done 23k miles from new rather than the 38k it was advertised as having done.

Not sure on folders, think mine had the usual manual but it was 2010, 2012 may have digital.

Comes with nothing else I don't think.

I have the old sw. It works, and I don't feel I'm missing much. MB wanted stupid money to update it.

Is it an MB dealer?

2012 will (well, was supplied originally) have handbook and a 'service' book, but the latter only lists what's required at what mileage etc. Actual service record is electronic record held by MB. If supplying dealer is not MB, then an MB dealer can provide print out of service record if you have regn. and /or VIN. They might want proof of ownership.

Also 'online' handbook on hard drive.

Should be 2 keys (plus usual check re locking wheelbolt key). Spacesaver spare wheel. Satnav version installed can be checked via Comand menu.

USB connector for media is in centre console, not the most accessible location.

And just make sure it has got Media and Dab, many came with out one of both for some reason.

Both very expensive to retrofit, around £600 for Media and £900 for Dab.

Thanks folks for your comments. The collect is mid-day tomorrow.

The car is not from a Mercedes dealer. I will call my local Mercedes dealer to get hold of the service history or at least talk through the detail with them.

The wheel nut is a good reminder. I will also check the other points above.

Yeah that is what I would do, just that many list the spec of the car from the latest cars which has DAB as standard, but many Mercs didn't have in 2012.

I actually fitted a Dabmotion Rola to my C320, only took 30 mins and works fine.

Cost me £99 delivered from a seller on eBay.
