C250 Sport front bumper
Discussion
Looking at buying a C250 AMG Sport estate but the front bumper has been bashed on both corners (fairly badly). What would it cost to respray and refit one - its light blue. And where is best to get it done near Redditch/South B'ham. It isnt repairable unless a lot is spent on it as it seems to have gone over a kerb and then reversed and ripped some if the fibreglass back and bent chunks. The fog light and mesh are also missing but I know the cost of these. I've seen second hand ones on the web c£100.
The alloys are shot too but I know refurb costs.
Other than that all looks fine. Need to commit early next week to buy/walk away.

These are the pictures. Just spoke to a dealer and the bumper is £564 + vat alone and would need painting and the grill and fog light (aboout £150). Bumper has pulled away from the body on the offside by about 2mm but the clips are still in place.

There is damage underneath where it looks to have been driven over a kerb and revered. No damage to engine belly protector so I think its just down to poor driving.
2nd hand from around £75 but unsure of condition of these so it cold be pot luck.
Anywhere near Redditch we could speak to about a respray/fitting of the bumper?

The panel gap from the wing to the bonnet looks big so that might need tweaking I think you're looking at 1.5k including parts.
No idea about bodyshops near you but don't go for the cheapest quote, check a few out.

These guys normally sell decent used bumpers.

I need to get it done for less than £600. Dont believe the wing has been bent - looks perfect. Clips seem to have taken the strain. £300 for spray, £150 bumper, £150 fog light and grill is my target.
Got to decide Monday as Mrs FFG's company car goes back Wednesday. and the back up pplan is use my Griff so need to get one soon. Looked at a few now and they are always worse than described, and very little flex in prices, even private (but not many private ones about).

Have you seen this one?

Or if your willing to spend £600 extra on the blue one there is this one they're asking 1k more then the one you're considering at which point I'm sure you could haggle them down £400 plus it's got 30k less on the clock.

Many thanks. I was concerned about the bumper hence why we hadn't committed. We had one more to look at (weirdly in Peterborough) that was on the watch list but didn't have any pictures up so we had a load of pics sent over and agreed to drive over for a look as the pics were promising. So drive 100 miles and it was excellent other than the halfords spray can wheels and the front tyres need doing so we went for a test drive and it was far quicker and smoother than the blue one so we decided to go ahead. Dealer is refurbing the alloys and putting new tyres on it plus was having the windscreeen changed (2 big chips and the reason why the pictures weren't on the web site) so we've got a Nov 2010 C250 Sport Blue Efficiency estate in black with £9.5k of options (black leather seats, sat nav, panoramic roof, memory seats, rear camera, rear sunblinds etc) for under £10k. 111k miles with full MBSH and perfect paintwork - could only find a couple of very minor marks anywhere on it. Very pleased.
Again, thanks for confirming my fears.

You can find these cars been broken all over eBay, and as above there's always First Choice Bumpers.
You can pick up all the parts you need second hand for under £300, and find a recommended local body shop to fit and spray for worst case another £300.
Nice to hear you bought a high spec, genuine car. I've never heard of blinds on a C. If you want to keep up the Merc history, they offer something called a Value Service.
Also, walnut trim is great! Is it brown or black? I have Ash Black on my E Convertible (which, inside and underneath - is really a C).

It was the hassle factor about he bumper and the wheels needed doing - not a big cost I know, there was also a bit of damage on the rear bumper and a parking sensor out which was minor. they also didn't have all the paperwork so unsure of the service history. Not sure - its a greeny colour. Interior is black grained leather and the others have been smooth so assume its black. The bodywork is immaculate and its been looked after and its a step change better than the others we have seen. The blue one was nice but it was condition that was the key decision driver and the panoramic roof is great. You can pick up all the parts you need second hand for under £300, and find a recommended local body shop to fit and spray for worst case another £300.

The car was over £40 new so its depreciated £30k in less than 5.5 years. Thats pretty frightening.
