CL63 running costs
Discussion
Looking at a couple of 07/08 CL63s, I've had an SL55 in the past. Just wondering on running costs? Ignore fuel consumption which I imagine is high teens? The SL had ABC issues which were expensive and well documented - is there any we'll know weaknesses? Annual running costs - I'm aware of insurance, tyre costs. Also if anyone can recommend a decent independent within 10 miles or so of Godalming that would be great. Thanks
Hi,
Just stumbled on your thread, assuming this is W216 shape? I think they only did a 65AMG in the earlier shape. I have used RPL Automotive in Bordon a couple of times for my W215 CL500 and they have been great, not sure if they cater for the newer models though.
Regarding reliability, ABC can be a problem on the W215's but I believe a proper maintenance schedule was put in place for the later W216 cars. Otherwise I can't really help I'm afraid, they look great though. (A posh C63!)
Thanks, Max

I'm looking too but also CL65s which may bankrupt me !!As with most cars I find that well looked after ones with full history are the best to buy - stating the bleedin' obvious !!
Good luck

Ok ignore the blinged out wrapped one at the bottom.

oh god aint that the truth Regarding reliability, ABC can be a problem on the W215's

After owning mine for near 4 years, for the last year my 2005 W215 CL55 had ABC problems. Man what a siht expereance, no matter what i replaced and did, the ABC was a real problem. When it was running right for the 3 years, its was fantastic in every way, but then every thing went wrong in its last year. I do all my own work on my cars and bikes, but this bloody CL almost bought me to tears. I rebuilt the pump, i replaced two strutts, i even dropped the rear axel to replace pipe work, but still it was siht

Problem is when your CL has a problem with the ABC, its hard to sell because no one wants it, and the value drops like a stone no matter how perfect the body, interea and engine are. Mine was perfect in every way, but the ABC destroyed what it once was.
I got rid of mine two weeks ago, it used to be the best car ever until the ABC messed up. The good news is that last week i picked up a 08 jaguar XKR, perfect
, and with proper shocks and springs.......bliss

The ABC was much improved on the CL63, so go for it if you want a bit a peace of mind you can get Mercedes to give the ABC system a health check.
