W203 Alarm issue

I've got a 2004 C Class and when I bought it in 2014 I tested the alarm a few times to see if it did ie locking the car when i'm inside and testing the motion sensors and it all worked perfectly.
Fast forward to today and i'm just back from an 80 mile round trip and happened to look out the window to see the indicators flashing but no alarm siren. Wen't down unlocked sat inside locked and the indicators only flash when one of the ceiling sensors is disturbed now and there's no siren at all.
Anyone experienced this before? It's been quite hot here the past few days and considering the age apparently the batteries in the siren will leak and cause issues like this and therefore it needs replacing?
It's a pain because I only really drive at weekends and now if the indicators start flashing because of a false alarm and I don't know about it im gonna have a dead battery very soon.
