S204 C350 CDI speed sensor problem (I think)
Discussion
Last week my wife reported that the C350 we have through up all sorts of failure warnings (ABS, EBD, PAS, cruise control etc). Car still drove fine (steering OK but didn't try triggering ABS and cruise control didn't work). Next time she started it all fine.
Used it yesterday and it was fine for about 60 miles then did it again, always about 30 seconds after a start and about 200metres down the road.
To me this smacks of a wheel speed sensor issue. Had one go on our old SLK and symptoms were identical and also I had one go on a Maserati and that was again similar in terms of the things the car thought had failed.
Part is about £25 and a cinch to swap by the looks of things (I did the SLK one, the dealer did the Maserati one as that required a whole new hub assembly!).
However, how can I tell which sensor it is? Armed with my OBD scanner I tried to look at what codes it had stored earlier on expecting there to be a code that indicates which wheel had the issue. However, no codes!
So, wait for it to happen again and try a scan then or is there something else I could try?
